Lora J. Abbott, 95, formerly of New Castle, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21,2013 at Zionsville Meadows in Zionsville. She was born July 13,1918 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Lee and Jessie (Williams) Brown.
A homemaker most of her life. Lora had worked at the Garment Factory in New Castle and also worked in the cafeteria at Mooreland High School for several years. She was a member of the North Christian Church in Mooreland.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Don C. (Carol) Abbott of Chattanooga, TN; two daughters, Linda (Bruce) White of Whitewood, SD and Penny (Tim) Surber of Zionsville; two daughters-in-law, Erika Abbott of Mt. Summit and Sandy Abbott of Muncie; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Morris (Joan) Brown of Sedalia, MO; a sister, Wilma Stephens of Upland; several nieces and nephews.
IN addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur S. Abbott on 2000; two sons, Edward Lee and Ronald Dean Abbott; two brothers, Raymond "Bud" and Donnie Brown; two sisters, Marie "Mary" Chard and Bernetha Sayre.
Services will be at 12 noon Friday, Dec. 27,2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
