Agawam, Mass. - Alice G. (Rice) Soden, 90, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, December 21, 2013. She was born in Springfield to the late Ruben and Hilda (Stuart) Rice and was educated in Waterbury, CT. Alice worked as an administrative assistant for the Town of Agawam in the Senior Center. She was a member of the Holly Spring Baptist Church in Lyman, SC and also First Baptist Church in Agawam. Additionally she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Agawam and the Huntington Lioness Club. Alice enjoyed cake decorating, knitting, sewing and reading. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ralph E. Soden in 2012, a son Ralph Soden in 2009, and her two brothers, Robert Rice and Kenneth Rice. Alice is survived by her three loving children, Donald Soden of Lyman, SC, Marlene Soden of Westfield and Laura Jacqmain of Agawam, three cherished grandchildren, Shawn Soden and his wife Gina, Daniel Soden and Arlie Meade and 7 great-grandchildren. Alice's family would like to acknowledge and thank her loving caregiver, Ann Hamel and her hospice nurse, Amy Bradley for the love and care given to her and her family. A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10AM in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Main Street Agawam. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5-8 PM in the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
