Mrs. Virginia Sutton Adams age 81, of Ashville, NC formerly of Rome, Ga., died Monday, December 23, 2013.
Mrs. Adams was born in Rome, GA., on April 19, 1932, the daughter of the late General Lee Sutton, Sr. and Emma Mize Sutton. Mrs. Adams was a 1953 graduate of Shorter College. She retired from Adams Tax Service and was a longtime member of South Broad United Methodist Church. Mrs. Adams loved to write poetry. Also, she enjouyed working in her flowers and watching the birds. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, William Ralph Adams, a daughter, Anna Joel Adams, and a brother, General Lee Sutton, Jr.
Survivors include a son Richard Adams of Rome, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Roger Kennerly of Ashville, NC; and two grandchildren, Jackson and Kathleen Kennerly both of Ashville, NC.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel. Interment will follow in Hardeman Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, AL.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel.
