Franklin E. Derr, age 88, of 19 Derr Road, Danville, died 3:05 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville, where he resided since August. He had been in failing health for three-and-a-half years.

Born in Hemlock Township on June 25, 1925, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Hazel (Brobst) Derr. He resided in Rush Township, Northumberland County, since 1950.

Frank was a self-employed cattle dealer and also farmed all of his life.

He was a member of the Klinesgrove United Methodist Church, near Sunbury, and a life member of the Southside Fire Co., Riverside, and the Stonington Fire Co., Stonington.

Frank served with the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Phyllis J. Greenly, on Oct. 15, 1993; by a brother, Leroy C. Derr; and by three sisters: Ethel M. Correll, Isabel I. Shultz and Esther G. Sandel.

Surviving are a son, Bradley S. Derr, and his wife Debra, Danville; a daughter, Priscilla A., wife of Kelly L. Green, Catawissa; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; a brother, Paul E. Derr, and his wife Harriet, Bloomsburg, and his companion of 19 years, Ruth Amacher, Washingtonville.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Charge, officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Viewing will be Friday from 6-7:30 p.m.
