Born Feb. 13, 1911, in Linton, he was the son of Samuel John and Myrtle Ellen (Tennis) Targett.
He retired in 1976 from Allied Steel & Conveyor in the Detroit area, having worked there for over 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Violet (Higar) Targett of Dearborn Heights, MIch; one son and daughter-in-law, Lindy Paul and Carol Henson of Westland, Mich.; two brothers, Isaac Targett of Bloomfield and Floyd Targett of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; and grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Scott and Christine Henson of Chelsea, Mich.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Cook; three brothers, Jim, Robert, and Alfred Targett; three sisters, Mary, Edith and Lillie; and his parents.
Funeral services will be at Welch & Cornet Linton Chapel at 10 a.m. on Thursday with the Rev. David Fish officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
