Jacquelyn Ann Laffitte, 86, Southwestern Bell Co. telephone operator, died Tuesday. Service 2 p.m. Monday, Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
------------
Jacquelyn Ann Laffitte, 86, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went on to be with the Lord on December 24, 2013. Jacquie, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on August 19, 1927 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to William Henry and Cora Ann Cloud. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in May 1946. On August 10, 1948, she married Robert Dalton Laffitte in Seguin, Texas just before he was deployed to serve his country in WWII. He later came home to her in Sapulpa where they had and raised two children. After almost 40 years of employment with Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator, she retired on April 1, 1984. Jacquie will be missed by many. She was known by all of her family and friends as a giver. She was a giver of her time, of her kindness, and of her love. She was always attentive to the needs and interests of her family and friends and consistently presented them with thoughtful notes and gifts. Jacquie was an active lifetime member of First Christian Church. She regularly attended services and Sunday school. For over 50 years, she filled the communion cups every Saturday. She donated her heart and her time in any way she could such as volunteering during Vacation Bible School, visiting people in nursing homes and those who were homebound or bereaved, and helping out in any way she could around the church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and was very active in her community, volunteering throughout the years with several organizations such as the Sapulpa Historical Society and Friends of Sapulpa Main street. Even on vacation, she donated her time. During a long visit with her granddaughter in Washington, DC, Jacquie volunteered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Jacquie enjoyed collecting, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She worked with a quilting group that made quilts for those in need. Her love and kindness did not stop with people. She loved animals and often helped stray cats and dogs. She also raised poodles, yorkshire terriers, and yorkie-poos. Jacquie is preceded in death by parents, husband, great-granddaughter Alexis, and many beloved friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home 1208 So. Main St. Sapulpa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jacquie's memory to First Christian Church in Sapulpa at 220 E. Lee Avenue, Sapulpa, Oklahoma 74066. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. (Smith)
