Frankfort- Services for Edward Earl Ritchie, 61 yrs., of Frankfort, were be conducted from Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 with Rev. Tim Jumpp and Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery, with military honors and honors from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office being observed at the graveside.

He passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, following a brief illness.

A native of Franklin County, he was born, November 5, 1948, and was a Deputy Sheriff for Franklin County and was retired from the Ky. National Guard and Ky. Vehicle Enforcement. He was a U.S. Army veteran where served a tour in Germany. Edward was a member of the VFW Post 4057.

He is survived by his daughters, Shawna Ritchie (Clay Ewell), FL, and Renay Ritchie Hickman (Scott Beagle), Frankfort; brothers, Stanley and Raymond Ritchie, both of Frankfort; sisters, Mallie Purvis and Hattie Norton, both of Frankfort, Edie (David) Pipkins and Margie (James) Lafoe, both of Lawrenceburg, and Catherine Cloyd, Stanton; grandchildren, Brandon Scott Hickman, Bethany Faith Elizabeth Hickman, Katelynn Diane Hedges and Rebecca Cheyenne Hedges, and several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Oda Shelton and Elizabeth Manns Ritchie and was also preceded by his brother, Ben Ritchie and sister, Jean Shyrock. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed by those who were blessed to have him in their lives.

Pallbearers were be Jake Banta, Ed Holmes, Pat Melton, Matt Green, Alvin Cummins, Greg Muravchick, Mark Watkins, Oscar Pumphrey, Chuck Geveden and Steve Clark. Honorary bearers will be Bethany Hickman, Brandon Hickman, Billy Dargavel, Chad Jennings, Mike Bates, Buddy Ritchie, Sonja Ritchie, Clay Ewell, Scott Beagle and the Franklin Co. Sheriffs Office.
