From the 9/09/1904 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin: “Miss Marion Cessna, of Kenton, who has been in Italy studying music, died at Milan on the third instant. The body, accompanied by the mother of the young woman, will be brought home for burial and it is expected will reach New York the latter part of the month. Miss Cessna was a daughter of Dr. B.F. Cessna, formerly of this town, was a niece of Mrs. Judge James L. Price, and had a number of friends in this town.”
From the 9/27/1904 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin; “The funeral services over the remains of Miss Marion Cessna, who succumbed to appendicitis, while in Italy, were held in Piqua Saturday, where the burial occurred. She was a daughter of Mrs. B.F. Cessna, at one time a resident of this town. Judge and Mrs. James L. Price, of Lima, met Mrs. Cessna and the remains at New York City and accompanied them to Piqua. Miss Cessna died in Milan, the third day of this month of appendicitis, though it was first reported that the illness was Roman fever. She went to the old country for the study of voice culture. Mrs. Cessna encountered great difficulty in gaining permission of the Italian government to remove the remains from that country and it was not until Judge Price made use of his influence through the good offices of the American Consul at Milan and secured the desired permission. It is said this is the first time permission has been given by the Italian authorities to remove a body from that country. Miss Cessna was twenty years of age.”
