FAIRFIELD — Leo E. "Bud" Adamson, 95, of 203 Southgate Circle, died at 7:30 p.m. December 23, 2013 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born December 4, 1918 in Agency to Lloyd and Mary Johnston Adamson. He married Helen McCalester on September 21, 1942. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2013.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Bud farmed near Agency before retiring and moving to Ottumwa. He later moved to Fairfield, where he enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and swimming friends at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center.

He was a member of the Agency United Methodist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially fond of playing with and telling stories to his grandchildren.

Surviving is a daughter, Judy (Alan) McNiel of Batavia; two sons, Gary L. (Shelia) Adamson of Ottumwa and Kenneth E. (Marilyn) Adamson of Coralville; six grandchildren, Todd, Trevor and Mark Adamson, Craig McNiel, Sherri Shoe and Angie McMullin; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Betty Adamson of Ottumwa; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Dale; and three sisters, Louise Lindquist, Frances London and infant, Helen.

His body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ottumwa Cemetery.
