One of the 2 men involved in Brooke Hart's murder He was one of the men who came up with with the idea to kidnap Brooke has he got off of work. Brooke Hart more than likely died within an hour or so after he was abducted and thrown from the San Mateo bridge he had concrete blocks attached to his body with bailing wire but was able to loosen himself free of these waights before he died.When his body was found 2 weeks later it had been eaten by crabs and was missing the hands and was badly decomposed from the waist up But for almost 2 weeks his captors kept calling Brookes father demanding $40.000 in ransom to return Brooke alive to his family! The day Brook Harts body was found Jack Holmes and his accomplice were lynched accross the street from the jail where they were being held because the Hart family was so well loved and respected in San Jose. Harold Thurmond is buried amoung his family in an unmarked grave near the grave of his victim.

Thomas Thurmond and Jack Holmes had been arrested and had confessed by Nov 16, a week after kidnapping and killing Brooke Hart so they didn't keep calling Brooke's father for two weeks. They did mail him at least two letters and make several phone calls to him with a ransom demand of $40,000 according to newspaper accounts of the time, but they were in custody and had confessed by November 16.
