Jerry E. Loomis died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at his home in Beaumont, TX.

Jerry Emerson Loomis was born on November 22, 1933, in Waveland Twp., Pottawattamie County, rural Griswold, the son of Leslie Loren and Ruth Mae (Leonard) Loomis. He graduated from Griswold High School in 1951, joined the Army and served in Germany during the Korean War. Following his discharge he attended and graduated from Brigham Young University where he majored in physics with an emphasis on mathematics. He went to work at the University of California - Lawrence Radiation Laboratory with a team designing nuclear reactors for use in rocket engines. He later went back to BYU to study psychology and then returned to California and worked as a NASA research scientist where he did a variety of things. Jerry ended his working career returning to university life teaching students as a private teacher and continuing his lifelong hobby of writing. He was a professional member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and over the years his writings had been published in many magazines and books. On January 14, 1972, Jerry married D'Ann Biggers at Manti, UT and for the last several years they have lived in Beaumont.

Jerry died at his home Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 8 days. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife D'Ann of Beaumont, his son Jerry S. Loomis and his wife Diana of Beaumont and his daughter Elise Adame and her husband Juan of San Marcos, TX.
