Mrs. Cordelia Mae Andrews
(April 18, 1935 - March 2, 2010)

Cordelia was born, April 18, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Charles and Bessie Weathington. She was the second oldest child, and the only girl of five siblings. The family soon moved to Fresno, California where she grew up and went to school until she left to attend college at Oakwood in Huntsville, Alabama. During a summer of canvassing, she was introduced to Robert Andrews, who was then attending Missionary Emanuel College in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He was so taken by Cordelia that he decided to leave the college he had been attending for 3 years and attend Oakwood College during his senior year. During this time he courted her and August 19, 1956, they became husband and wife. Though she worked outside, and sometimes inside the home, she was ever a devoted wife and mother. She obtained her Masters Degree and had a rewarding career as a missionary along side her husband in Jamaica, and later a college professor at both Oakwood College and Alabama A&M University teaching business math and a variety of business courses. She taught music in her spare time to children and regularly held recitals to highlight the success of her students. Mrs. Andrews was quite active in church assisting her husband who was a minister, in branch Sabbath School programs, Bible Studies, and playing the piano. In addition to playing the piano she also had a beautiful singing voice, and often sang in choirs. She sewed well, cooked well, and taught arts and crafts, which included macramé, and her self developed method of finger knitting. Above all she possessed a kind spirit, and a warm compassionate heart which endeared her to all those who were fortunate to meet her. She was a loving and devoted mother exhibiting Christlikeness, patience and kindness as she raised her four children instilling in them the values that guided her life. Her children have fond memories of lying in bed with her while she read poetry, or singing along with her as she played and taught them songs that to this day linger in their memories. She had a special knack for turning seemingly bad situations into something fun, or exciting. She had a spirit of joy, always uplifting others; and most of all she had a deep, active, pure, love for God.

She leaves to grieve her husband, Robert Andrews; her daughter, Esther and son in law, David Ball of Trenton, New Jersey; her son, Michael Andrews and daughter in law, Rose of Orlando, FL; her daughter, Deborah and son in law, Steven Claborn of Huntsville, AL; her daughter, Karen and son in law, Charles White, Jr. of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Jini and husband, Jeremy Jones of Atlanta, GA, Michael Claborn of Huntsville, AL, Joseph Andrews of Huntsville, AL, Sharice White of Huntsville, AL, Sarah Andrews of Orlando, FL, Mariah Claborn of Huntsville, AL, and Charles White III of Huntsville, AL; great grandchildren, Teyonna Howes and Cameron Jones of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Charles, David, Joseph, and John Weathington.
