HACKATHORN, Donald Ray, 54, of Wheeling, WV, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
He was born November 30, 1959 in Wheeling.
Donald was a Christian by faith, U.S. Army Veteran, self employed contractor who loved to help children out in his community and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his step-father, Melvin Heatherington; maternal grandparents, Thelma and Harry Welshhans; nephew, Sam Wilson and brother-in-law, John Wilson.
Surviving are his mother, Edie Heatherington of Shadyside, OH; seven children, Kim Miller of Pittsburgh, PA, Donald Hackathorn, Jr. of Sistersville, OH, Corey Hackathorn and Candice Donzella of Wheeling, Brittany Hackathorn of Wheeling, Courtney Brothers of Martins Ferry, OH, Joshy-man Pritt and Travis Pritt both of Wheeling; two sisters, Thelma Wilson of Wheeling and Janet "Smiley" Williams of Shadyside; brother, Gary (Tressia) Johnson Hackathorn of Wheeling; step-brother, Dana (Lisa) Heatherington of Chesapeake, VA and eight grandchildren.
Friends will be received, Sunday, December 29 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where funeral services will be held Monday, December 30 at 11am with Pastor Kevin Rowland officiating.
Interment will follow at Powhattan Point Cemetery.
