Big Stone Gap, Va./ Lebanon Va.- Carolyn Faye Howerton Roberts, 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday (Dec. 27, 2013) at Russell County Medical Center.
She was a member of the East Stone Gap Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being a productive member of the congregation. She loved sewing, cooking, and being with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed a simple life and her Christian values. Watching the Tennessee Vols was another passion of hers. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Roberts; and her parents, Arch Howerton and Lucy Cooling.
She is survived by her children, Anita Swiney(husband) Jeff of Knoxville, Jeffrey Roberts of Knoxville, and Trina (Husband) Scottie of Lebanon VA; grandchildren, Josh (wife) Stacy Swiney, Laura Ellis (husband) Ben, Olivia Swiney, Tiffany Shelby (husband) Brandon, all of Knoxville, Sarah Giles, Ben Giles of Lebanon, Ryan Clark of Big Stone Gap; two brothers, Kenneth Howerton (wife) Glenda of Missouri, and Charles Cooling (wife) Judy of Abingdon, VA; seven great grandchildren, Luke, Presley, Gracyson, Colton, Kelsey, Gage and Brooklyn.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Holding Funeral Home (17. East 3rd St. N) Big Stone Gap VA for the visitation.
The funeral Service will be conducted following the visitation with the Rev. Bobby Hamilton officiating in the funeral home chapel.
Special music will be provided by Holding Funeral Home and Dewayne Shelby
Graveside services will be private.
