A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic church for Joseph "Buddy" Cagnina, 74, who died at 7:01 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 in Crowley.

Fr. Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass. Visitation may be observed on Monday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. He will be buried at the Estherwood Cemetery with his hunting companion PJ.

Mr. Joseph was born August 9, 1939 in Crowley to the late Philip, Sr. and Gladys Lejeune Cagnina. He was a graduate of the University of Southwest Louisiana and was a longtime insurance adjuster. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He was a co-owner of Cagnina City Bar, home of the Red Door. He was currently living in Arnaudville and was owner and operator of Papa Joe's Mini Mart and Deli. He was an avid hunter and had the opportunity of a lifetime with a dream gift from his children, of a Canadian Duck and Goose Hunt in the fall of 2012.

He is survived by two daughters Missy Sloane and her husband Todd of Crowley and Cathy Breaux and her husband Tracy of Roberts Cove; two sons Philip Cagnina, III and his wife Kathy of Baton Rouge and Joseph Cagnina, Jr. and his wife De-De of Arkansas; two sisters Mary Ann Meche of Lafayette and Phyllis Cagnina of Lafayette; two brothers Ricky Cradeur and Rod Cradeur both of Crowley; 9 grandchildren Adam Cagnina, Alexandra Cagnina, Britt Cagnina, Stacey Cagnina, Jantz Sloane, Jacob Sloane, Drew, Cameron and Christian Breaux and his companion Beverly W. Stelly of Arnaudville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Philip Cagnina, Jr.
