OBIT 1:

J. A. Newman died in Oklahoma City Friday morning, November 4, 1927, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 4 days. He was a Union Soldier and fought for the betterment of his country, and not only was he a soldier under the Stars and Stripes but also a soldier of the Cross of Jesus Christ and a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. J. A. Newman, two daughters, Mrs. Ida Reed of Middletown, Ohio, Mrs. G. B. Griffin, Yukon, and one son, John J. Newman of Ashland, Ohio, and sister, Mrs. P. A. Smith of El Reno and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Old Soldiers Home, Oklahoma City, at 2 p.m., Sunday and interment was made in the Frisco Cemetery near Richland, Oklahoma.

James Allen Newman, 87 years old, died early Friday morning at the Union Soldiers' home. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, John J. Newman, Ashland, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. G.B. Griffin, Yukon, and Mrs. Ida Reed, Middleton, Ohio, one sister, Mrs. P.A. Smith, El Reno. Arrangements will be announced by the Hahn funeral home.
