OBIT:

Arletta Delia Holt, daughter of William J. and Rachel Ann Holt, was born in Ohio, September 11 1853. She departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olive Griffin, October 20, 1929 at the age of 76 years 1 month and 9 days.

When a small child, she came with her parents to Decatur County, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On February 22, 1873 [Feb 17, 1874], she was united in marriage Joseph H. Williams. To this union was born four children, three of whom have preceded her to the spirit land--one son, Ora, just one week before her death.

Her husband died March 2, 1883. On May 17, 1888 she was united in marriage to James A Newman. Two children came to bless the union, a son and daughter. They came to Oklahoma in the year 1897 and since that time have made their home here. On December 12, 1901, the son, Homer, passed away. The last eight years they have lived in Oklahoma City at the Union Soldier's Home. On November 4, 1927, her husband departed this life. Mrs. Newman remained at the home until March 21, 19129. Since that time, she has made her home with her daughter. She has been ill the last seven months and although suffering great pain, she was always cheerful and patient.

She leaves to mourn her loss, two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Visser of Bussey, Iowa and Mrs. Olive Griffin of Yukon, Oklahoma, fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed in home and community for to know her was to love her.

The funeral was held Monday, October 21 at 2:30 p.m. Services were conducted by the pastor of the Richland Evangelical Church and interment was made in the Frisco Cemetery.
