Robbie Edith McIntosh Metcalf, 83, of Reeves Cove Road, Candler, N.C., died Monday, November 24, 2014 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
Robbie was born in Unicoi County, Tennessee on June 10, 1931 to the late Carl Sherman McIntosh and Viola Ruthie Crain McIntosh.
Robbie was survived by her husband of 64 years, Jesse James Metcalf. She was also survived by her daughters, Brenda Joann Metcalf (Wayne) and Linda Marie Metcalf Ledford (Eddie); six grandchildren, David Metcalf (Heidi), Tara Metcalf Pressley (Tommy), Nathan Metcalf (Amy), Jacob Metcalf, Dean Ledford II and Amanda Ledford; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Pressley, Nick Pressley, Ethan Major, Gavin Major and Marah Metcalf; two sisters, Hazel Loyd and Grace Metcalf; three brothers, Venious "Buck" McIntosh, Gerald McIntosh and Charles McIntosh.
In addition to her parents, Robbie was preceded in death by two sisters, Dell Shelton and Effie English; three brothers, Dallas, Theodore and Clarence McIntosh; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Metcalf.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and friend. She loved flowers and working in her vegetable garden. She made a great apple cake. She was a special lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Eddie Ledford I (Robbie's Son-In-Law) and Lawrence English (Robbie's Nephew) officiating. Robbie's pallbearers were her grandsons, David, Nathan and Jacob Metcalf, Eddie Ledford II and her great-grandson, Nick Pressley and Tommy Pressley (her granddaughter's husband). Music was provided by her grandson, Eddie Ledford II. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin, TN.
