Joy D. Bakunas, 69, of Novelty, passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2011, at Hospice House with her husband at her side after a three-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born Dec. 7, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minn., she had lived in Hiram for 13 years, prior to moving to Novelty.
She enjoyed painting and was an avid photographer who loved nature. She loved working with others and was a proud member of AA since March 17, 1978.
Mrs. Bakunas worked at Harbor Light for three years and the Brecksville VA for 18 years prior to her retirement.
Survivors are her husband, George; children, Teresa (Keith) Pieritz, William M. (Angela), Russell J. (Sandy), Leonard L. (Sherry) and Jeffrey J. (Lisa) James; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ret. Col. Lachlan M. and Jean E. Sinclair.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake.
