Claude was a son and 3rd child of Bert Jennings and Phoebe Jane McGegor. He had eight siblings. He married Elizabeth Grace Finlayson on January 26, 1928 and they had two daughters. After her death in 1941 he married Elsie Janetta Poyntz. He was an avid lacrosse player and worked at Gummed Papers in Brampton. He is buried in Brampton Cemetery with his parents, wives and several family members.
