Albert P Stover was known as "A P", or to his nieces and nephews he was "Uncle Porter". He was born in Indiana, and lived for a few years in Ft Scott, KS. His family settled eventually in the Cherokee Strip in OK where he grew up. His family came to Oklahoma in a covered wagon.
In 1913, he married Jessie B Miller. He worked for the US Postal Service for 33 years, and also was secretary of the Civil Service Commission.
Jessie and A P moved to Weatherford, OK in 1910, and stayed there the rest of their lives. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and had also been a member of the Western Star Lodge No. 138 AF & AM.

Funeral services for Albert P Stover, an old Weatherford resident, will be held Saturday at 10 am in the First United Methodist Church of Weatherford with Rev Ken Tobler and Rev Richard Ayers officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery of Weatherford under the direction of the R L Lockstone Funeral Home.

In 1905 he moved to Hydro. He was in teh railway mail service in 1906 and then in 1911 became a substitute clerk in the Oklahoma City post office. In 1913 he became a regular clerk.

In April, 1924, he began working for the Weatherford Post Office. He worked 33 years for the postal service, retiring in 1950. He had been secretary of the civil service commission and handled many applications and examinations for federal positions.
After his retirement at age 70, he continued to live in Weatherford.
He had been a resident of the Weatherford Nursing Home for the past three and a half months, dying in the nursing home early Wednesday. (Sept 14, 1977)
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Western Star Lodge No 138 AF & AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
