I, 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry (92nd Pa), and honorably discharged by general order to date May 29, 1865. His brother Jacob served in the same regiment and was a bugler himself but with Co. K and C.
He married Anna C. Balsbaugh and fathered Clarence W. (b. 11/10/75), Hiram S. (b. 11/12/81), Valentine Balsbaugh (b. 09/22/82), and Mary E. (b. 03/30/84). In 1890, he was living in Middletown where he died from "mitral insufficiency" with "age" a contributing factor.
