R. P. GLIDDEN was born in Noble County, Ohio 1829. He resided in the village of East Union, Ohio thirteen years. He removed to Indiana in 1868, Greene County, being his place of residence during the period of fourteen years and connected himself with the M. E. church in 1874 under the ministry of S. C. KENIDY at a meeting at Newark and remained steadfast to the end of life, and when he knew his end was drawing nigh, called all of the family about him and assured them that all was well, the God he had served was with him now, and after speaking to them one by one telling them to be good, first his wife then the children, six in number, he bade adieu to earth on the 30rth day of March 1882, that being his birth day. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge thirty-one years. He leaves a wife, six children, an aged father, four sisters and six brothers. His father, two sisters and four brothers and one sister reside in Kansas while the remaining sister lives in Nevada.

He died of consumption after having been a sufferer six years, three years of this time a confirmed invalid. He leaves many friends to mourn with his family, and care for them. There was religious service a the house where the family now reside and a very large crowd of people

Sister Christine GLIDDEN and children tender their respects to all, of the many kind friends and neighbor that so kindly and patiently waited on and cared for Brother GLIDDEN in his long protracted sickness. Then let us yet care for them and help them in the great grief that is upon them.
