'Dixon, Arthur H., died October 31, 2013, at the age of 85. He was born on January 1, 1928, in Peoria, Illinois to W.L. and Florence Dixon, who have preceded him in death. He served in the United States Army in Korea from 1946-1947, before being honorably discharged. He married Frances Kubik in 1949, and they remained married until she died in 2008. Art and Fran moved to Scottsdale in 1952, to set up a business with his father and to escape the cold winters of the Midwest. After being in business for 12 years in the Valley, he then began a flourishing career with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) in 1964 and retired from state service in 1989 as the Chief Right of Way Agent for the State of Arizona. He was a devoted Free Mason and a member of Scottsdale Lodge #43, and an active member for over 58 years. In retirement, he was also active in the Scottish Rite, Shrines and the Payson and Nogales Masonic Lodges. Art Dixon was a very generous, modest gentleman who lived a life of high ethical standards. He was a loving husband to his wife of nearly 60 years, and a dedicated father to his two sons, David and Christopher. Art is survived by his son, Christopher Dixon, his daughter-in-law, Darcy Dixon and his grand-daughter, Ashley Dixon. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz County or the Nogales Community Food Bank. Memorial services will be held at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 on Friday, November 15, 2013, at 10:30 am. The Arizona Republic, Nov. 13, 2013.
