Findagrave wouldn't allow me to add Celia as my sibling. Celia was my ONLY sister. I have added my husband's big family as siblings-in-law and they stopped at a few. My husband was one of 17 children. FAG shouldn't reject adding siblings. People do have big families.
My only sister has been in 3 nursing homes since 1997. She suffered with a mental breakdown in 1968, followed by Diabetes in 1983. Our mother, Florence Marie [Dupont] Schott died in 1985, Celia couldn't manage living alone and by 1987 was placed into a Rest Home in which she resided for 10 years. She suffered two strokes, the last left her unable to talk or walk.
Jan. 1st, 2005, a feeding tube was placed into her stomach due to her loosing her swallowing abilities. Eventually, she was able to start restorative feeding by mouth, was fed pureed foods and thickened liquids. On Monday Oct.31,2005, she had a high fever, bloodwork, xrays and other tests were taken. It was a complete shock to the nursing home staff and myself, that she died so sudden on Wednesday evening. I got a call from the Nursing Manager to come in that she wasn't doing good. When I arrived, she had just passed away. I wish I was there with her when she choked, maybe she would still be alive today. I don't blame the CNA for her death. I think she gave up the will to live and wanted to join our mom and dad.
Cause of death: Urosepsis

"Bloodstream Infection from UTI[Urinary Tract Infection]
Urosepsis can occur in anyone, but elderly women are most at risk. Occasionally, life threatening situations develop from uncontrolled urosepsis, especially in patients who are diabetics or in immunocompromised states. Females are more commonly affected than males.
The illness progresses even further, with spread of the bacteria into the bloodstream."

Springfield-Celia Ann Schott, 62, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday November 2nd in a local nursing home[Radius-Ring HealthCare, Springfield, MA]. Born in Springfield to the late Henry Schott Jr. and the former Florence Dupont, she was a lifelong resident. Celia was a 1962 graduate of the High School of Commerce and attended the former Gauthe Business School in Springfield. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church. She is survived by her sister, Roberta Cyr and her husband Claude J., a niece, Christa Malone, all of Springfield. The service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Celia's memory to the charity of one's choice. Byron funeral home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Celia was cremated and her ashes were buried on Tuesday Nov. 29, 2005 privately in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield, MA next to our Mother and Father who are in graves 1 & 2 of this same lot.
