Mrs. Clara V. Jones, 84, a life-long resident of Kinkaid township in Jackson county, died at the Tyler nursing home in Murphysboro. She had been ill for several months, and the illness became serious after she fell and broke a hip a week ago Thursday.
Mrs. Jones was born at Dry Hill in Kinkaid township on December 1, 1867. Her siblings include John A. Cross of Murphysboro and (half-brothers), Maurice Cross of East St. Louis, Joseph Cross of Herrin, and Willis Cross of Murphysboro.
She married William Jones at Dry Hill on December 1, 1886. He died on March 14, 1934. She leaves children, Wilbert of Ava, Amos J. of Murphysboro and Mrs. Grace Neehan of Los Angeles. A daughter, Martha, died on December 25, 1910.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Ava Presbyterian church.
