Death Calls a Napa Pioneer
NAPA, April 5— Anthony Hubbs, a well-known pioneer, of Napa and Solano counties, passes away today at his home in Calistoga. He was a native of Lyons, France, and was 72 years of age.
He came to California in 1849. In 1852 he held a clerkship in the office of Governor Bigler. From 1857 to 1861 he served as County Treasurer of Solano County. From 1872 to 1882 Mr. Hubbs was bookkeeper. In the State Controller's office at Sacramento. Later he served five years as navigation clerk at Mare Island navy yard. For the last thirteen years he had resided in Calistoga with his family.
