He was born, raised and lived all of his life in Galloway Township. He was a Union plasterer, having learned the trade in the family business. He was a member of Local 5 of the Bricklayers, Plasterers Union of Bordentown and Local 33 of Atlantic City.
He served his country honorable as a member of the United States Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea and was a member of the USS Coral Sea Association.
He was a life member of the Pomona Volunteer Fire Co. where he served as a member of their Fire-Police. He was a charter member of the Pomona Gunning Club and a member of the Church of Assumption in Pomona. Mr Guenther was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Samuelsen) of Pomona; two sons: Robert G Guenther Jr and his companion Geny of Pomona and David Guenther and his companion Holly of Egg Harbor City; three brothers: Joseph Guenther of Brigantine, Willian Guenther of Galloway Township and James Guenther of California; four sisters: Mary Davenport of Somerdale, Erma Mason of Absecon, Phyllis Hibbitts of Camarillo, California and Alice Pencak of Laureldale; three grandchildren: Jessie Guenther, David Guenther Jr, and Gennine Guenther.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 20, 1998 and from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 21, 1998 at the Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City (965)0357. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 21, 1998 at Church of the Assumption, 276 W. White Horse Pike, Pomona.
Interment will be at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.
