Passed away at age 78 years at 12:10 am at St. Mary's Hospital on 6 Oct 1971. He had been a patient for 8 weeks. Services were held at 8:45 am at Louis M Ptak Memorial Home with burial in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery.
He was born in Stobierna, Poland on July 25, 1892, son of Jacob and Mary Malec Piwonski. He married Anna Niemiec on Sept. 22, 1918 in St. Val's Church in Peru, Ill.
He came to Peru 60 yrs ago and was employed by the Rock Island railroad for 30 years and retired 13 yrs prior to his passing. He was a member of St. Val's Church, Knights of St. Florian and International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers.
Survivors were his wife, 3 sons, Andrew and James of Peru and Aloysius of LaSalle, 5 daughters, Mrs Fred (Genevieve) Karkoski and Mrs. Henry (Jeanette) Korosec of Peru; Mrs. Joseph (Angela) Murray of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. John (Florentine) Dittmar of Homewood, Ill.; and Mrs. Eugene (Wanda) Broviak of Peru, 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
