Mrs. Mabel E. Bowers, 70, wife of Arthur E. Bowers, of 1052 Bay View Boulevard, died Thursday at 9:25 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital after five years of failing health.
A native of Burkettsville, Md., she had lived in Norfolk the last six years. Her late parents were Martin and Mrs. Lovetta Arnold Hightman.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Besides her husband, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Frances B. Jones and Miss Jeanne Caryl Bowers, both of Norfolk; one grandson, Arthur Randolph Jones; one sister, Mrs. Cora H. Souder, and one brother, the Rev. Fred A. Hightman, of Baltimore.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond.
