Charles attended and graduated from Lewis Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan, where he played his clarinet in the orchestra. He was a hard worker and a perfectionist and could fix anything. He had a newspaper route when he was just a boy. At age 17, he worked for the BKPH Wayne County and Home Savings Bank. Later he worked for Michigan Drug and Detroit Edison Company as a Mobile Substation Operator where he retired at age 65. As a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Livonia, Michigan, he devoted a lot of his time.
He met Mary Cencer while out one evening dancing. After a courtship, they wed on August 4, 1925 when Charles was 20 and Mary was 22.
From this union 6 children were born, 4 daughters, Mary Elaine, Dorothy, Nancy, Kathryn,and Constance... and 1 son, Thomas.
Charles died 19Jul1992 in St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia, Michigan at 9:55 p.m. He was 88 years old. The immediate cause of death was heart failure as a consequence of congestive heart failure.
