Martha "Patsy" Long, was born about 1775 in Wilkes County, NC, the daughter of John Long Sr. (born 1750-1755 and died Oct 1836 Ashe County NC) and Susannah Vannoy (born July 6, 1754 in Potts Creek, Rowan County, NC died March 10, 1816 in Ashe County, NC).

Death date uncertain. Martha married John Taylor about 1795. She died after the August 20, 1860 census, listed as a seamstress living in Alleghany County, NC, listed with grand daughter Milly and Milly's 2 children.

A document proven to be the last will of John Taylor and his wife Patsy was dated 25 Sep 1854, proven in Ashe County, NC court in 1901 by grandson John Wesley Taylor. Exact death dates are unknown.

Children of John Taylor Jr and Martha Long as far as I have been able to document:
1. Samuel Taylor, born about 1799 in NC; died before 17 Nov 1874 in Wilkes County, NC (will dated Sep 26, 1874; proven Nov 17, 1874). Married Hessia "Hesssy" Absher (abt 1805-1891)
2. John S Taylor, born about 1802 in Ashe County, NC; died 16 Jun 1977 in Letcher County, KY. Married Rebecca Osborne (abt 1807-1876)
3. Charles Taylor, born about 1803 in NC; died before 19 Aug 1887 in Ashe County, NC. Married 1) Polly Eldridge (abt 1817 - before Jan 1850); 2) Mahala Howell (1821 - after 01 Jun 1900).
4. Nathan Taylor, born about 1814; death unknown. Married Polly (maiden name unknown) (abt 1815-?).
5. Tobias Taylor, born about 1815; died after 04 Jun1890 census. Married Mary "Polly" Tilley (1810-1870).
6. Polly Taylor, born about 1816, died Jan 1899 (from her grandson John Wesley Taylor).
Due to lack of many actual records for this family and a very common name, there are many, many family trees that confuse this family with others.
