Fishertown
Edna "Babe" Smith, 89, of Fishertown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014.
She was born on March 21, 1924, in Windber, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Powell) Cook.
In May 1945, she married Ross W. Smith, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cynthia.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcia, wife of Harry Wolfe, of Fishertown; her son Clifton R. Smith, fiancé of Angie Wolfhope, from Fishertown; and brother, Paul Cook, husband of Beatty, from Warren, Ohio; her nine grandchildren: Matt, Missy, Bobby, Jennifer, Kelsi, Beth Ann, Justin, Trevor and Kaylin; her six great-grandchildren: Bradley, Branden, Teddy, Mason, Skyla and Brooklyn; and her great-great grandchild, Stetson.
Babe lived life to the fullest enjoying the outdoors which included hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. She loved woodworking and crafting and set up a booth at Fall Foliage for more than 20 years.
Babe worked as a mail carrier for the local factories for more than 17 years.
She was also associated with the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.
One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Friends and Family will be received at the J. Blackburn Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 10 am until the hour of the funeral service at 11 am., with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating.
Interment will be at he Stone Church Cemetery in Fishertown.
