Services were held for Phyllis Elaine Anderson on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Sutherland, IA with Rev. Roger Maize officiating.

Interment was in the Waterman Cemetery, Sutherland, IA. Arrangements were under the care of Warner Funeral Home, Sutherland.

Phyllis Elaine Anderson was born in Calumet, IA on May 26, 1928 to Velma Matheson and Emil Litka. She was raised in the Calumet and Sutherland areas and attended the Sutherland Schools.

On November 13, 1948, Phyllis married Charles Anderson in St. Joseph, Missouri. They made their home in Sutherland where they operated Anderson Trucking for over 45 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland and an active member of Town and Country Saddle Club for many years. She worked at the Sutherland Care Center for over 11 years where she enjoyed doing laundry. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting End of the Trail artwork, shopping and being Gramma Phyl and Auntie Phyl to large numbers of people she considered family.

Phyllis passed away at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, IA, on Friday, July 26, 2002 at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by one son and his wife, Rodney and Jackie Anderson of Parker, CO; one daughter and her husband, Micki and Bruce Haht, of Calumet, IA; four grandchildren: Rochelle and Tim Anderson of Parker, CO, Shawn and Jeff Mathison of Lincoln, NE, Jesse Haht of Ames, IA; two greatgrandchildren: Kaare and Carson Mathison of Lincoln, NE; a close nephew, Garry Lange of Sutherland.

Siblings who survived her include two brothers and their wives: Gerald and Phyllis Lange of Sutherland, Duane and Pat Lange of Royal; three sisters and their husbands: Dorothy and Harry Baurer of Holstien, Jan and Ralph Thomas of Sioux City, Mary and Robert Draper of Sutherland; as well as special friends, Keith and Lonna Jennings of Des Moines; and many other relatives and friends.
