"OBITUARY --- Edward Gibson was born in Decatur county, Iowa, Feb. 7th, 1868, and died at his home ten miles south of Ottumwa April 10, 1899. His remains were brought to Mantua Township, this county, and funeral services were held at Center school house, Wednesday, April 12, Rev. U. K. Bates officiating and many sorrowing friends being in attendance, after which interment took place in Smith cemetery. Deceased was one of five sons born to Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Gibson, Mrs. Gibson being a sister of I. N. Tyrrel of this city. He had lived in Poweshiek county several years, where he was married, and about a year ago bought a farm south of Ottumwa, where they lived when he died. Consumption and heart trouble was the cause of his death. The bereaved relatives have the heart felt sympathy of many friends."
