"Mrs. M. L. Patterson Dead.

Mrs. M. L. Patterson, widow of the late Col. M. L. Patterson, of Oswichee, died from a short attack of pneumonia last Monday afternoon. Mrs. Patterson had been in fairly good health for one of her advanced years until she contracted the malady which resulted in her death. She was sick only about one week. She was 75 years old and doubtless the infirmity of age hastened the ravage of disease. In her death the Oswichee neighborhood sustains an irreperable [sic] loss. She was a devout member of the Catholic church and by her life and Christian example she nobly exemplified the holy faith that she professed.
She is survived by the following children: Messrs P. B., E. M., and M. L. Patterson, of Oswichee; Mrs. J. C. Turner, of Columbus, and Mr. J. A. Patterson, of Hatchechubbee.
The tender sympathy of all friends and acquaintances goes out to the bereaved ones in this hour of sorrow and mourning."

Russell Register, 11-28-1902; Seale, Alabama, page 3, published weekly by Tucker & Chadwick. From microfilm available at the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
