He married Alice Benson Dec. 25, 1935, in Crosby, Minnesota. He and his wife worked in a Navy shipyard in Bremerton, Washington during World War II.
He established Van de Streek Furs in 1945, which he owned and operated until he retired in 1974. He and his wife and partner, Madge Power, owned and oprated Al-Ma shop, a fabric store, from 1956 to 1974. His wife died in February 1982. He worked as a furrier for Porter Brothers Hide and Fur Division in the late 1970s.
