Frederick, Md. - BERNICE A. BOWERS BRACKETT, 91, of Frederick and formerly of Sharpsburg, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home in Frederick. Born March 2, 1912, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel N. and Elsie Colbert Bowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Melvin Brackett Sr., in 1953.
She retired in 1977 from Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Hagerstown.
She is survived by two sons, James M. Brackett Jr. of Frederick and Carroll E. Brackett of Hagerstown; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Bowers Sr. and Gorman F. Bowers.
Services were held at the Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro; burial was in Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
