Genett Charlton Munson, 87, of Weed, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, after a brave battle with cancer.
She was born on October 20, 1921, in West Weber, UT, to Albert "Ray" Charlton and Maggie Genett "Nettie" Charlton. She was raised in Utah where she met and married her husband Earl Harold Munson in 1942.
They were later married in the LDS Temple in Oakland, Ca. In 1966, she moved with her husband to Weed, where she continued to raise their three children and assisted her husband in running the family business – the local Chevron Station, for the next 14 years until Earl's passing.
Genett's long time love of painting continued in Weed, as she became a member of the Siskiyou Artists Association. She was also an avid golfer and enjoyed the time on the course with her friends as much as she enjoyed the game itself.
Genett had been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since her baptism at the age of 8 years.
Her love of her Heavenly Father and her Church family was evident in her daily living. Genett lived daily with love and devotion for her family and close friends. It has been said by many that "Genett never met a stranger". She has taught all who loved and knew her what it truly means to love "unconditionally". She was, and always will be a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. We miss her, but know she is in God's arms.
Genett was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her three sons, E. Gregory Munson of Orofino, ID, Jeffrey Scott Munson (Luann) of Weed, and Bradley Charlton Munson (Tammy), also of Weed. Her six surviving siblings include, Laura Ekins of St George, UT, Anna Beth (Don) Gardiner of Denver, CO, Mae (Vic) Adams of Taylor, UT, Merrill (Shirley) Charlton of Bullhead City, AZ, Elda (Jay) Hadley of Taylor, UT, and Larry (Linda) Charlton of West Weber, UT. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren, all of whom were her pride and joy.
Visitation will be held at Mt Shasta Memorial Chapel, 830 Lassen Ln, on Thursday July 9, 2009 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday July 10, 2009 at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 214 Adams Dr, Mt Shasta, CA with Bishop Dan Taylor officiating.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Madrone Hospice of Yreka.
