Evelyn B. Hanson, an Orofino homemaker, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Clearwater Health and Rehabilitation Center in Orofino. She was 82.

She was born March 20, 1919, in Pasadena, Calif. She moved to Sprague, Wash., then Colfax, and then to Lewiston, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Orofino in about 1940.

Evelyn worked as a secretary for Lewiston Motor Company for a number of years. It was in Lewiston she met her husband. She and Kester Hanson were married Nov. 26, 1940, in Lewiston.

She loved spending summers at their cabin on Priest Lake. She enjoyed sewing and, in her later years, traveling. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and PEO Chapter AW.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Hanson and Keith Hanson, both of Orofino; two grandsons, Jeff Hanson of Seattle and Brian Hanson of Orofino; and two granddaughters, Janelle Hanson of Portland, Ore., and Kelsey Hanson of Orofino.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Helen Allen.

The memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Orofino.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino.
