DENISON - Ethel Ritchie left her earthly home on August 16, 2005 to go to her heavenly home to be with her husband and their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Ritchie was born on May 9, 1911 in Clairette, Texas to Lewis A. and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Willbanks Skirlock. Ella married Garland D. Ritchie on October 26, 1931 in Lovington, New Mexico. They were married 55 years and eight months. She graduated from Sherman Beauty (Cosmetology) School in March of 1960. Ethel was a very happy compassionate lady. She loved everyone and everyone loved her and her great sense of humor. Ethel loved children and was a foster grandparent for four years at the Denton State School Kindergarten in Denton, Texas after her husband passed away. She was a member of Parkers Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ritchie is survived by her daughter, Ella McVey (Micki) Reid of Denison, Texas; two sons, Stanley W. Ritchie and wife, Ruthe of Denison, Texas and Kenneth R. Ritchie and wife, Kay of Bells, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Garland Reid and wife, La Tayne of Odessa, Texas, Shawn Reid and wife, Debbie of Brownfield, Texas, Debi Russell and husband, Allen of Ponder, Texas, Karl Reid and wife, Lori of Whitney, Texas, Rick Ritchie of Saudi Arabia, Brandon Reid of Denison, Texas, Kelly Reid of Phoenix, Ariz., Linda Cole and husband, Mark of Denton, Texas, Brian Ritchie and wife, Prissy of Whitewright, Texas, Michael Ritchie of Texarkana, Texas. She was blessed with 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
Mrs. Ritchie was preceded in death by her husband, Garland D. (Heavy, Jack) Ritchie on July 3, 1987 at the age of 76 in Denton, Texas; parents; four sisters; two brothers; and numerous nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2005 at IOOF Cemetery in Denton, Texas with Rev. Steve Kretzer of Denison officiating. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.
