Paul Eddie Stark, 77, Professor Emeritus at Troy University Dothan, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Stark and Rev. Woodrow J. Farrington officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time on Saturday. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Mr. Stark was born January 18, 1936 in Nevada, Missouri and lived the early years of his life in Neosho, Missouri. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri and his Master's degree from the University of Arkansas where he also taught briefly. He later taught for several years at Troy State University in Troy. He then transferred to Dothan where he taught at Troy University for a number of years prior to his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Edith W. Stark of Dothan; his children, John Stark (Jenni) of Bakersfield, California, Martha Fernan-des (Chris) of Kilauea, Hawaii, Jim Stark (Jeanie) of Coulterville, Illinois, Kathryn Stark of Rittman, Ohio, Steve Fowler (Krystal) of Dothan, Mark Fowler (Lucy) of Montgomery; sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Dr. John Stark, Dr. Jim Stark, Chris Fernandes, Paul Stark, Steve Fowler and Mark Fowler. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street, (334) 793-3003, is in charge of arrangements.
