Arvie Dean Bridges, 71, of Bastrop, LA, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He was born on January 26, 1930 to Clarence and Maude Vail Bridges in Jonesboro, LA. Mr. Bridges was a retired truck driver and a member of the First Church of God. He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Norman, and a sister, Margie Klein.

His survivors include his wife, Shirley Bridges of Bastrop; two sons, Terry Bridges of Monroe, LA, and Brent Jenkins of Bastrop; five daughters, Brenda Cannon of Haughton, LA, Sharon Heath of Swartz, LA, Paula Norman of Choudrant, LA, Debra Hawthorne of Crossett, Monica Naugle of Heber Springs; his step-mother, Vera Bridges of Quitman, LA; two brothers, Orvin Bridges of Jonesboro, LA, and Purvis Bridges of West Monroe, LA; four sisters, Odell Smith and Jeanette Tharpe, both of West Monroe, LA, Jettie Burson of Jonesboro, LA, and Joy Bridges of Oklahoma City, OK; two step-sisters, Mary and Nelda; seventeen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, at the First Church of God with the Revs. Steve Casey and Roy Pepmiller officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky Cullom, Brian Heath, Daniel Norman, Brent Jenkins, Ricky Smith and Eddie Smith. Interment was at the Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
