Born in Goodville, he was the son of the late Levi and Lizzie (Weber) Horning. He would have been married 54 years on Feb. 20 to Mary Jane (Bowman) Horning.
Marvin retired in 2000 after many years as a plumber for Weaver and Witwer in Blue Ball and later for Haller Enterprise in Lititz.
He was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church and enjoyed woodworking along with spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Huntington County and drinking coffee with his friends at Town Hall Restaurant in Blue Ball.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Jeanette, married to Rick Klumpp of Narvon, John, married to Joanna (Gehman) Horning of Denver, Darla Horning at home, Steve, married to Cheryl (Martin) Horning of Ephrata, and Lisa, married to Jason Heft of Denver; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene W., married to Edie (Wanner) Horning of Narvon.
Preceding him in death is a sister, Pearl W. Horning; and his step mother, Anna (Horst) Horning.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13 at 10 am at Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata with the Bishop Nelson Bowman and Ministers David Sensenig, Eugene Weaver, and Marty Hostetter officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 6-8 pm and on Monday from 9-10 am at the Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
