Prieto, John Martin passed away on 25 October 2012 at his residence, Brasstown Manor, in Hiawassee, GA at the age of 86. He was born on 13 July 1926 in Chicago, IL to the late Miguel and Julia (Kluvanek) Prieto. During World War II, John served with the U.S. Army Air Corp in the Pacific Theater as a B-29 gunner. After discharge, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Detroit. From 1957-1987, he was employed by Continental Can Company in Chicago, St. Louis, Milwaukee and Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sylvia, father, mother, sister (Beatrice Elson) and two children: Marianne and Matthew. He is survived by his six children: Michael (Debra), Tom (Cathy), Joan (Mark) Grass, Mark, David (Rhonda), Lisa Collett and nine grandchildren. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held by the family. His final resting place with his wife, Sylvia, will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL. Contributions in John's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
