PFC US ARMY WORLD WAR II

ELMIRA, N.Y. - John William Conrad, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28th 2013 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira, N.Y. at the age of 92.

He was born on October 3rd 1920 in Lake Carey, Penn., he was the son of the late William and Hannah (Hawley) Conrad.

John was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country from 1941-1945 during World War II.

He landed on Normandy Beach and was a recipient of the following medals: Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, and the Victory Medal.

He retired from Corning Incorporated after several years of dedicated service as a Master Carpenter.

He thoroughly loved going to Auctions and Flea Markets, working on and repairing all types of clocks and enjoyed woodworking.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years; Frances M. (Place) Conrad in 2007, one beloved son; Gary Phillip Conrad on September 1st 1996, as well as other family and loved one's who have gone on before.
