He was the son of Charles and Roberta (Eital) Bonsall of Rockford Illinois.

He graduated from Rockford East High School in Rockford, Illinois in 1974 where he was a member of the football team. After he graduated, he joined the United States Army where he completed Military Police training, continuing in law enforcement for several years after his discharge. After serving in the Army, he lived in Rockford and the state of Nebraska before moving to St. Mary's, Georgia where he lived the remainder of his life.

Mike was a Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars fan, loved to ride his motorcycle and had a passion for fishing. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and was a good person to all he met.

He was a member of Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Brunswick, GA.

He is predeceased by his love Sonya and his mother, Roberta. He is survived by 4 children - Victoria Longmire of Texas, Dannielle (Frank) Grassa of Ney York, Mike Marples of Nebraska and Heidi (Kenneth) Clary of Georgia, sisters Pamela (Dave) Wendt of Wisconsin, Debi (Steve) Ohl of Illinois and Laura (Tim) O'Rourke of Illinois, 16 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Brunswick, GA. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date.

Mike was truly a friend to all he came across. He had a kind of strength you don't see much anymore. He also had a wonderful outlook on life and an inner peace about him, even when he learned of the cancer that he knew would take his life. He had no fear, no regrets. He was ready and let those close to him know it.

Rest easy now my dear friend. I'll see you again one day.
