Louise Wobus, 85, of Concordia, MO, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Bethel United Church of Christ in Concordia. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Church of Christ, St. John United Church of Christ Foundation Fund, Shannondale Community Center, or Heifer International Foundation. Emma Louise was born in St. Louis County, MO on July 28, 1928 to the late Albert Bartold and Laura Elizabeth Mueller Bartold. She was a graduate of Pacific High School and Deaconess School of Nursing in St. Louis, where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. On September 3, 1950, she married Rev. Paul A. Wobus, II, who preceded her in death on November 27, 2012. Louise and her husband moved to Concordia in 1968, and she began a career at The Lutheran Good Shepherd Home that lasted for over 40 years until her retirement in 2009. She was always active in the churches that her husband served as pastor, and while in the Concordia area she was an active member of Bethel United Church of Christ, as well as St. John United Church of Christ in Emma. Louise served the churches in numerous ways, including various committees, as well as being a member of their choirs, and the Mary and Martha group. She always made sure that the church was supplied with flowers for every service, and was still gardening through this year. She was recognized as a "Golden Nurse", a designation for Registered Nurses in the state of Missouri who have served for over 50 years. She was a member of the Concordia Historical Society, Federated Women's Club where she had served as president, V.F.W. Post 5649 Auxiliary, volunteered with Foods For Kids, and had been recognized as Woman of the Year in Concordia.

Survivors include four children: LaPaula Nanette Wilkinson and husband Fred of Emma, MO, LauriBeth Buck and husband Robert of Kansas City, MO, Kathy Saylor and husband James of Hartsburg, MO, and Paul A. Wobus, III of Topeka, KS; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren (with three more on the way); a sister-in-law, Alena Bartold of Pacific, MO; as well as nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Oliver Bartold; and one sister, Laurene Holthaus.
