Mary Elizabeth Ridgely (Sullivan) was born on a farm in rural Maryland to James William Ridgely and Willie Mae Doyle Ridgely. Her mother died in childbirth, and her twin brothers also died, but Mary was retained in her father's new household in order to be (more or less) the house-keeper while her younger sister, Ida Lurene Ridgely was sent to live with cousins because his new wife did not want to care for her. She married John Sullivan, who had been a Yoeman in the United States Coast Guard. They had no children and are buried in the Baltimore National Cemetery -- and she's on top of him for eternity...
