Fort Valley, GA - Jerry Earl Scarborough, 74, died Saturday, January 11, 2014. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church, 1502 Knoxville Street in Fort Valley, with Rev. Bryan McPherson and Dr. Robert Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, January 13, 2014, at Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church. Born in Fort Valley to the late J. D. Scarborough, Sr. and Ruby Watson Scarborough, Jerry served in the Navy and was retired from United Agricultural Products. He was a devoted member of Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church for 44 years, served as treasurer for 38 years, was a deacon and taught the Jerry Scarborough Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kay H. Scarborough; their children, Brian and Nakita Scarborough of Fort Valley and Brad and Melissa Scarborough of Reynolds; grandchildren, Jake Ammons of Fort Valley, Daniel and Taylor Tribble of Butler, Stormie Campbell and Tucker Campbell, both of Reynolds; brothers, Dan and Norma Jo Scarborough of Roberta, Mike Scarborough of Coral Springs, Florida, and David and Terri Scarborough of Byron; sisters, Debra and James Blackburn and Medria Ray, all of Fort Valley; and sister in law, Sandra Ray of Byron. He is preceded in death by his parents, J. D. Scarborough, Sr. and Ruby Watson Scarborough; step mother, Mildred Ray; sisters, Joyce Scarborough Palm Leckner and Dianne Ray Thaxton; and a brother, Russell Ray. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
